You’re on the train, but you need to know where your next stop is – and how far away it is. Perhaps you’re going somewhere you’ve never visited before and you need to plan your next steps? Maybe there’s been an unexpected delay and you suddenly need a new route home?
Sometimes you just need to know what’s happening with your journey right now. That’s why we’ve developed Now & Next – a feature that keeps you in the know, on the go. It keeps you updated with each leg of your journey, from where you are right now to where you’ll be going next. With live routing and a journey tracker at your fingertips, we can always make you aware of any problems that occur, removing some of the worry or anxiety around travelling.
We know that anxiety is a huge barrier to travel, particularly in a post-Covid world. Now & Next addresses and combats the issue of anxious travelling. It takes away the uncertainty of what a journey looks like, giving passengers peace of mind – especially if you’re unfamiliar with the railway or don’t take trains on a regular basis. It gives visibility for your whole journey, including complex multi-modal journeys, and offers a wide range of updates, including facilities at interchanges, last mile options, crowding alerts and even weather.
But, and here’s the crucial bit, it will reduce the number of messages you receive – so you can focus but still keep an eye on things as often as you need for peace of mind. If you do want to keep checking, we’ll be able to detect that you may be anxious and can help with more info. If not though, we’ll update you if anything changes.
When you plan your journey with us, you’ll immediately opt-in to the travel updates that are relevant to you, as well as route disruption and busyness alerts. The Now & Next feature is readily available to use at any point in your journey, giving you a live journey tracker that shows the progress of your train. You’ll also be notified of the weather at your location and have the chance to use our Last Mile feature upon arriving at your destination. To access Now & Next, all you need to do is plan your journey using Zipabout, available on Messenger and WhatsApp.
Your average journey planner will get you from A to B, but these are often only available in big cities with more accessible transport links. They’re also quite generic and don’t always have the ability to treat passengers as individuals. This means updates aren’t personalised and therefore don’t consider sudden changes or delays; leaving passengers in the dark if they need to find alternative routes.
Our personalised messaging service provides you with the hassle-free tools to do it all – watch regular commutes or one-off journeys, check how your usual routes are running and offer you alternative options should anything change. So, you can sit back, relax and let us do the work for you.
Transport operators can now access WhatsApp and Messenger for free to communicate with passengers, thanks to launch of new service Journey Alerts.
Open Data and transport apps: an outdated strategy that will leave transport operators and passengers at a disadvantage while lining the pockets of third party app developers
Stop reinventing the wheel when it comes to net zero transport. Councils should instead look to the tech sector to forge a new data-driven path to decarbonisation.
