We are excited to introduce Crispin Humm MBE as our new Chief Business Development Officer. Humm will be responsible for the deployment of our Passenger Connect platform, a real time personalised customer communication service used by organisations such as National Rail Enquiries, LNER and Scot-Rail.
Prior to his life in the transport industry, Humm spent 19 years as an Army Officer, culminating in a six-month tour of Afghanistan where he commanded a company of 80 paratroopers in Helmand province. Humm was awarded the MBE for leadership and operational success in 2011.
So how does a former Major in The Parachute Regiment go from jumping out of planes and defeating an insurgent threat, end up working for a transport technology specialist specialising in real-time passenger information?
In short, Crispin left the army six years ago to work in the financial sector. Although exciting, and a good base to refine transferable skills, Crispin wanted to work for a company with greater social impact. Crispin spent the next three years at Rail Delivery Group (RDG) where he created a single, industry-level, customer strategy endorsed by the industry board.
Humm said: “During my time at RDG it became clear that whilst the industry had successfully ensured an acceptable level of customer information across all channels, it had done little to address other customer needs, such as personalised, accurate journey information. When searching for a solution I came across Zipabout and its Passenger Connect product. I saw first-hand how the platform can transform the customer experience, enabling operators to talk directly to passengers about their individual journeys.”
Crispin joined the team at Zipabout in November 2019 to help drive the use of our Passenger Connect across all modes of transport. We are confident Crispin will be instrumental in supporting the company’s European growth, in a bid to enable better, greener, more efficient transport planning and door-to-door travel.
